Sri Krishna Janmastami Lecture

Sri Krishna Janmastami Lecture

Excerpt from a lecture given by Srila Prabhupada: “Love for Krishna, devotion for Krishna, is there within everyone’s heart, but he has forgotten. So this Krishna consciousness movement is simply meant for awakening that Krishna consciousness. This is the process. Just like when you are sleeping, your … I have to call you loudly—“Mr. such and such, such and such, get up. You have got this business.” No other senses will act when you are sleeping. But the ear will act. Therefore, in this age, when people are so fallen they will not hear anything, if we chant this Hare Krishna maha-mantra, he’ll be awakened to Krishna consciousness. This is practical.”

Chanting with Taste

Video Blog: Chanting with Taste

How’s your taste for chanting? If you sometimes find chanting to be more of a chore than something you relish, you are not alone. Yet it’s important for your spiritual life to taste its sweetness. When you do, problems vanish in its wake. In fact, Srila Prabhupada said developing a taste is the secret of success in Krishna consciousness. On this broadcast we discuss what is meant by a taste for chanting, why it’s important to cultivate and maintain that taste, and how our spiritual life is hurt when we lose our taste. We also look at how we are affected by thinking we have to chant rather than understanding that we get to chant. The fact is that we (the soul) really do love to chant the names of Krishna.

Srila Prabhupada Lectures

Lectures: Srila Prabhupada Lectures

According to Tribhuvanatha Dasa, a disciple of Prabhupada who has passed away, Srila Prabhupada was once asked why he would listen to the recordings of lectures that he had recently given. He responded, “Because I did not speak them”. Srila Prabhupada was implying that the words coming from his mouth are actually the words of Lord Krishna. So, take the opportunity to hear the words of Lord Krishna coming from the lips of His pure devotee. Whether the words of these lectures are heard once or regularly, they will undoubtedly have an eternal spiritual effect on the listener.

Steady Bhakti

Blog: Staying the Course of Bhakti Despite Obstacles

This blog post by Karnamrita Dasa is about being able to overcome obstacles in your Krishna consciousness. On any path there are always ups and downs, therefore we must remain steady in difficulties, setbacks, and successes—any of which can deviate us from our goal. Krishna consciousness is a constant battle against maya, the gatekeeper of the spiritual world, who ensures that all those who enter are completely pure. Therefore, the path of Bhakti yoga may seem like a struggle at times. This blog explains how we must have faith that Krishna is our protector and maintainer, and must continue on with faith and dedication.
